Secondary Use of Data for Research Purposes

By using this site you agree to share your challenge information for research purposes. This includes your prompts as well as the scoring for your prompts. Below is an explanation that discusses how your information will be handled regarding research purposes:

An email address and name is needed to use the TopPrompt system and it is stored in its database. However, the researcher will only use research data that has been exported after it has been completely anonymized. The research data will have names, and email addresses removed. It will include a new ResearchParticipantID. This will be different than the regularly assigned unique system ID, so there is no possible way to tie it to the system. This will assure that the researchers have no way of de-anonymizing the data. The file mapping your ResearchParticipantID to your name and email will be stored in a separate Box folder only accessible to the Principle Investigator, Derek Hansen (dlhansen@byu.edu). This file mapping your name and email address to your ResearchParticipantID will be deleted 3 years after the study completion. De-identified data from research studies may be shared with the research community, with journals in which study results are published, and with databases and data repositories used for research. We will remove or code any personal information that could directly identify you before the study data is shared. Despite these measures, we cannot guarantee anonymity of your personal data.
